LG CREATED THE FIRST STRETCH SCREEN
LG today introduced the world’s first 12-inch high-resolution extendable display. This panel has 20% stretch capacity, obtaining a screen up to 14 inches with resolution of 100 pixels per inch and RGB color gamut.
LG wrote on its blog that the screen is equipped with 'freeform' technology that allows it to be extended, folded and twisted without causing any distortion or damage. In addition, its high flexibility, durability and reliability maximize its marketing potential.
This screen uses microLED technology, with pixel size of less than 40 microns, which guarantees greater durability, and is capable of extending from 12 to 14 inches. Because it is based on a highly resistant film substrate made of special silicon used in contact lenses, it has flexibility similar to that of an elastic band, according to LG.
For now it is not clear if the stretch screen will reach the market.
