It is an automated legal aid platform developed by Joshua Browder, a British law student and technology entrepreneur. 

The platform uses AI to help people solve everyday legal problems for free and easy to use. DoNotPay began as a chatbot app designed to help people cancel unfair parking tickets in London and New York. 

However, as the app gained popularity, Browder began expanding its reach to address a variety of legal issues, from consumer complaints to assistance in seeking political asylum.

The platform is easy to use and is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their level of legal knowledge. Users start by answering simple questions about their legal problem through a chatbot interface.

As they answer questions, the system uses AI algorithms to analyze their case and generate personalized legal documents, such as complaint letters or appeals. DoNotPay also offers a variety of additional tools, such as a witness generator and a legal appointment scheduling feature. 

In addition, the platform has recently added a video call feature with lawyers to help users get real-time legal advice. DoNotPay AI has been praised for its ability to help people access justice more efficiently and affordably.

However, there are also criticisms that the platform cannot completely replace an attorney and that it can generate inaccurate or incomplete legal documents. Browder has responded to these criticisms by arguing that the platform is designed to be used as a support tool, not as a substitute for a trial attorney.
